Top Gear Style Challenge to Paris

Ok so let me explain.
Me, my mrs and 4 of our friends are planning a Europe trip late on this year. 2 to 3 weeks and various destinations chosen by everyone, At first we thought of getting a mini bus and driving Europe now We are getting a rail pass giving us the ability to hop on and off trains between out destinations which is ace! but I've come up with the idea for some fun getting there!
A TopGear Style challenge to paris.
Each team (2 people per team) will have £500 to buy a car to get to Paris! Along the way there will be challenges for us made from a third party who we will be visiting in Switzerland.
So..... What do you u buy??
Smaller car thats younger?
Or
Older but FAST
Or
An Estate with decent power incase a challenge requires space???
What can you find?? Post up some adverts or what you would buy
