Doesn't media player play them?
Or windvd would be another that might work.

I'll have another play when i'm back home Phil, on the dongle now, aint downloading on it. Media player opens up fine with cd's, when i put the dvd in tho, it says i've no compatable software to play it. It is only windows 7 starter but there defo enough memory in here to get something put on.

It might be that you need a new codec for media player to play DVDs. Best to download the latest version and give it a whirl when you're home.
